GED Program

Landmark Christian Academy's GED Program offers the classes you need to help you pass the GED Test.  We offer the following classes:

Essentials of Mathematics

Essentials: Mathematics is a semester-length review of the fundamentals taught in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry courses and is useful at the high school level for basic skill remediation and/or practice necessary to prepare for a state exam. The course highlights basic mathematical skills through multiple review, practice and sample exam questions.

Upon successfully completing the course, the student should have mastered the following concepts:

  • Understand and know how to compute and define rational numbers
  • Perform basic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with fractions, decimals, and percents
  • Apply basic fundamental rules of exponents as well as scientific notation
  • Be able to construct basic and complex geometric shapes; solve for perimeter, area, surface area, and volume
  • Use inductive and deductive reasoning, conjectures, and estimation necessary to construct a picture, formula or equation needed for analyzing and solving algebraic and geometric word problems involving basic probability and statistical reasoning, scale factor, graphic representation of quantities, and linear systems of equations
  • Solve single variable, absolute value, and linear systems of equations
  • Evaluate, solve, and graph linear functions as well as conceptualize the relationship between the independent and dependent variable of a function
  • Simplify and perform operations with radical expressions and polynomials
  • Understand and know how to apply the slope-intercept form of a line, slope formula, and Pythagorean theorem

 

GED Prep History

The GED Preparatory History and Geography course covers relevant topics that will help you to successfully pass the GED exam. Beginning with an overview of history and historical method, the course explores the history and geography of the earth, the nature of man, the founding and history of the United States, economics, political science, and anthropology. The course units include text-based lessons, on and off-computer exercises, special projects, learning games, quizzes, and tests that appeal to today's digital generation and help teachers to evaluate progress and mastery of the materials.

Social Sciences
American History
Man in a Changing World
United States History and Geography

 

GED Prep Language Arts

This is an information-packed course that covers all basics of language arts in four short units. The interactive format helps students retain the information they need to succeed. As a part of a complete learning management system, GED Preparatory Language Arts is a self-directed course infused with technology-based lessons, tools, and exercises to enrich learning for students.

For those students choosing an alternative to college, this GED Preparatory Language Arts course reviews the topics and encourages the development of the skills they will need to successfully pass the GED exam. Beginning with a review of the building blocks of communication and punctuation, the course explores human communication, essay writing, speaking skills, reading, research, and critical analysis of different forms of media and literature. The course units include text-based lessons, on and off-computer exercises, special projects, learning games, quizzes, and tests that appeal to today's digital generation and help teachers to evaluate progress and mastery of the materials.

GED Prep Mathematics

This course will help you prepare for the rigors of the GED testing with this information-packed course that covers all basics of math in four short units. The interactive format helps students retain the information they need to succeed.  As a part of a complete learning management system, GED Preparatory Math is a self-directed course infused with technology-based lessons, tools, and exercises to enrich learning for students.

Created specifically for students who need to firm up their math skills for GED testing, this eight-unit course covers all the topics that students need to prepare their math skills. Beginning with a review of the characteristics of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, students revisit formulas and statistics, integers and square roots, quadratic equations, geometric principles, statistics, graphing, and probability. The course units include text-based lessons, on and off-computer exercises, special projects, learning games, quizzes, and tests that appeal to today's digital generation and help teachers to evaluate proegress and mastery of the materials. Ignitia GED Preparatory Math helps give students the equation of successful GED testing.

GED Prep Science

Give yourself the confidence you need to pass the GED with this abbreviated four-unit course. The lessons cover all the science basics that students need to know. As a part of a complete learning management system, GED Preparatory Science is a self-directed course infused with technology-based lessons, tools, and exercises to enrich learning for students.

Students will dig into this review of the world around them as they prepare to take the GED exam with this short course designed for students who have chosen an alternative to college. The course begins with and exploration of the sun and the solar system, and cover the essentials of earth science, the environment, energy, biology, and the principles of life. The course units include text-based lessons, on and off-computer exercises, special projects, learning games, quizzes, and tests that appeal to today's digital generation and help teachers to evaluate progress and mastery of the materials. Ignitia GED Preparatory Science helps gives students the equation of successful GED testing.

The Cost

One time Registration Fee $75

Each GED Subject - $250 (5 months to complete)

If you do not complete the subject in 5 months, there will be a $50 a month charge per subject not completed.

*You must take the GED test through the state. We do not administer the final test.*
